Penang Bird Park

The first and largest bird park in Malaysia, Penang Bird Park is home to more than 300 species of aviary from all over the world. From giant aviaries to geodomes simulating natural habitats, the well-maintained facilities house a diverse selection of plants, reptiles and mammals in addition to some 3,000 birds. It is just approximately 12-minute drive from Ixora Hotel Penang and you will get to relax and enjoy the symphony of the birds.

 
 

Built in a garden concept, the park boasts of its beautiful landscaping with the impressive collections of hibiscus, orchids, bamboo, ornamental plant and palm trees. In the centre, there is a waterfall that cascades down, providing an amazing setting for the park. There are also ponds along the path filled with beautiful flora and fauna like swans, the elegant flamingos, storks and ducks that complement the ecosystem.

Penang Bird Park is also a home to several species of deers including the smallest deer in the world - Mouse-Deers. Giant Arapaima fish, pythons, giant estuarine crocodile, tortoises and other species of wildlife are also exhibited in this park.

 
 

Tourists can help hand feed the tame birds in the aviary at specific feeding times. If you are here to just take in the view of the bird paradise, then you may observe from the Chinese-style wooden bridges that traverse the water or relax in the little Malay huts that dot the park to enjoy the beauty of nature at play. Once you are done touring the park, you can head over to the restaurant right here at the park that dish up some amazing local and western cuisine.

Tickets are price at reasonable prices according to age and school children who can enter for a charge of RM10 only if they enter in their school uniform.
